The 48th Annual Lakeside Rodeo rides into town on April 20-22. With seven major events including Barrel Racing, Bull Riding and Team Roping, it’ll be a fun event for the family. Parking donations of $3 benefit youth organizations in Lakeside.

On April 21^st, don’t miss the 27^th Annual Linda Vista Multi-Cultural Fair & Parade offering food, merchandise, performances and carnival rides. This cultural celebration runs from 10am to 5pm, but don’t miss the hour-long parade at 11am. Check out the Linda Vista Fair for more info.

Also on the 21^st is the 42^nd Annual Chicano Park Day. As a historic public arts site which was established in 1970 by Chicano artists, Chicano Park is recognized worldwide for its mural paintings of Chicano and Mexican history. The celebration features children’s art workshop, traditional and contemporary music & dance, live bands, food, arts & craft vendors and a classic low rider car display. A huge plus is that this event is free and runs from 10am to 5pm.

The ACT Today 5K offers a 5K run, 10K run and a kids run accompanied by a post

event festival featuring music, beer, food and inflatable jumpers. Event proceeds

benefit military families that cannot afford treatment and other special needs for their

autistic children. The event runs from 7:30am to 11am on Saturday, April 7^th at East

Mission Bay, Tecolote Shores, and  Fiesta Island. For more information: ACT Today 5K

Love the Padres? It’s the Opening Day Block Party down in the East Village on J Street

between 7^th and 10^th. Don’t miss it! There will be entertainment featuring The

Ultimate Stones Tribute Band, a beer garden and local food trucks and grub. The Party

will be happening today (Thursday, April 5^th) from 11am to 6pm. Our San Diego

Padres play the LA Dodgers with the home opener starting at 4:05pm.

Don’t have anything to do today?  Why not experience the Annual San Diego Mud Run ,

a challenging course for 2000 runners of all ages and experience levels, by being a

cheerful spectator?  Participants run through water sprays, climb down steep grades

and mud pits, slide over slippery hills and obstacles and crawl through tunnels.

A portion of the proceeds from the race will benefit the USO San Diego and children

of Sonshine Haven.

If you want a different kind of race-watching without getting dirty, try the 2012

Race for Autism which will be run in Balboa Park. Race donations support San Diego

programs and classrooms that benefit thousands of autistic children. The Race will

feature a 5K timed run or walk, a 1-mile Family Fun Walk, an educational resource

fair, children’s activities, prizes, refreshments and more.

After falling 34% over the past six years, U.S. home prices will bottom out soon. For an augur

of better times to come, data shows that nondistressed-sales prices rose .2% month over

month in December, and .7% in January 2012.
